BevBoost, a beverage technology innovator based in Boulder, Colorado, USA, has introduced a patented dual-chamber in-can widget designed to revolutionise the freshness and flavour delivery of canned drinks. The innovative device releases fresh flavour compounds and other additives precisely when the can is opened, providing a superior taste experience for consumers.
Innovative Solution for Flavour Preservation
Inspired by the principles behind nitro widgets, the BevBoost widget addresses common challenges such as oxidation and flavour degradation in canned beverages, particularly hop-forward beers like IPAs. By incorporating this technology, manufacturers can ensure a fresher taste and aroma even months after packaging, which could significantly reduce product losses due to quality decline.
The food-safe, recyclable widget is compatible with existing aluminium canning lines, making it a plug-and-play solution for both craft brewers and large beverage brands. It can hold various ingredients, including hop extracts, vitamins, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), or cannabidiol (CBD), and delivers them seamlessly into the drink without the need for shaking or refrigeration.
From Concept to Commercialisation
The concept was first envisioned in 2023 by Matt Cutter, the founder of Upslope Brewing Company, who partnered with Boulder Engineering Studios to develop and refine the design. BevBoost is conducting limited commercial trials, showcasing the technology with a hop-boosted IPA at Upslope’s Flatiron Park Tap Rooms in Colorado.
Key Benefits of BevBoost’s In-can Widget
