Inspired by the roll-top closures commonly found on waterproof hiking and dry bags, Looplock enables consumers to roll the open end of a flexible pack around the device before securing it with a click mechanism. The result is an airtight seal intended to help preserve product freshness between uses.
Designed for products such as flour, rice, cereals and snack foods, the accessory allows consumers to retain the original packaging, ensuring branding, preparation instructions and expiry information remain available throughout the product’s life.
A familiar sealing concept adapted for food packaging
Many flexible food packs rely on clips, adhesive strips or transferring contents into storage containers after opening. Looplock takes a different approach by applying the well-established roll-top sealing principle to everyday consumer packaging.
The closure wraps around the rolled opening of the pack before locking into place, creating a reusable seal without altering the packaging itself. Because it functions as an external accessory, it can be used across a variety of flexible pack formats rather than being integrated into individual packaging designs.
This flexibility could make it suitable for a broad range of pantry staples where repeated opening and resealing are part of normal household use.
Designed for long-term reuse
According to Bound, Looplock is manufactured from an engineering-grade polymer selected for its shape-memory properties and suitability for food-contact applications.
The company states that the closure is designed to withstand thousands of opening and closing cycles. If it becomes deformed during use, it can be restored to its original shape by immersing it in hot water, extending its usable lifespan.
Rather than replacing existing packaging, the closure is intended to complement it by improving functionality after the pack has been opened.
Looplock demonstrates how a simple reusable accessory can add convenience and product protection to flexible packaging while allowing consumers to continue using the original pack.
